I recently found out that 3 study abroad BU students died on a trip to Mount Doom in New Zealand from a car accident. The article explains it all but what I am reminded of most is that this life is truly precious and it could end at any moment. ANY MOMENT. I so easily could have been one of those students in those vans, killed or not killed, the former with a young, promising life over and the latter having to deal with the pain of losing loved ones as well as the guilt of being so close to death. One of the dead students was a girl from New Jersey … what if my mom got a call saying that her daughter who was studying abroad in London was killed in a car accident Just this morning, I was frustrated by certain situations and I was bitching and moaning and being a brat. I AM IN FUCKING ROME, ALIVE AND HEALTHY. that’s it and that’s all that matters. I’m incredibly fortunate to be able to be traveling Europe for 6 weeks and I cannot forget that.
next time.

Discovering treasures.
Advice from Radiolab’s Robert Krulwich (via explore-blog)
I especially feel this way while traveling. I’ve seen so many different friends all over the world (as well as made new friends) and I just am overcome with this feeling that I so appreciate them being a part of my life. It’s a taste of what life will be like after college, people going their separate ways, visits sometimes being few and far between. But, it’s that time spent together that says
thank you for the joy and love you have brought me and I hope I have given you the same.

Art’s great nudes have gone skinny
Italian artist Anna Utopia Giordano has created a visual re-imagination of historic nude paintings, had the subjects conformed their bodies to what the 21st century considers an ideal of beauty. The results are revealing—and quite shocking in what they say about the modern attitude toward women’s bodies.
omg, YES YES YES. I have been seeing so much art while traveling and I am loving the women and how their bodies are portrayed. Full and curvy and just BEAUTIFUL.

My partner in travel crime and adventure, Miss Sarah, has left me this morning to go back to the U.S.
Since this is my travel blog and all, I thought it fit to just give her a moment on here because she deserves it.
Basically, until you do it, it’s essentially impossible to understand the extent of Eurotripping and how much who you do it with makes all the difference. For the majority of the time, Sarah and I were in the same place at the same time; getting from place to place, sharing the hostel room, going to landmarks, getting lost together, finding our way together, eating meals … everything. We were always with each other and for that, it’s a good thing that I like you a lot and that we get along so well. Even the amount of lines we waited on (particularly most recently, waiting in line to get into Marie Antoinette’s palace in Versailles) — we were waiting for hours and yet and we could talk and talk about anything and everything and then just be around each other while you listened to your iPod. It was this kind of easiness, patience, and open-mindedness that made our travels so enjoyable.
So thanks for doing Dublin, Barcelona, and Paris with me. These were three weeks I’ll never forget with a friend that means the world to me because you took on the world with me.
I’ll miss you darling and see you soon.
P.S. You left your contacts on the side table again. They dried in an interesting way. I figured you would want to know that.
Next stop: Amsterdam. I now look forwarding to continuing my journey with different friends and curious to see what other adventures will unfold!
Scratch Travel Map of the World
Based on the idea of a scratch card, you simply scratch of the places you have visited so you can see where you’ve been and where you’ve still left to go. The countries are all different colours underneath.
This is just a good idea.

there would be so many more places I could scratch!!
